Inspired By Experiences, Fueled By a Passion for Healing

About Karen Quigley

I've been a human development specialist for over 25 years.

My journey began at just 17 years old, when I nearly lost my life in what I would come to learn was a battle with trauma.

Facing a long road to recovery, I sought out many traditional and alternative healing practices and methods.

In my early 20s, I met a therapist who inspired me to join the field. She was trained in somatic experiencing and helped me understand how trauma lives in the body. As a result of our work together, I discovered that body-based psychotherapeutic practices combined with holistic health and alternative medicine can provide a powerful path to healing. I became driven to help others discover their path to healing as well.

I graduated from John F. Kennedy University with a double major in holistic health education and counseling psychology. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure of working with various populations in diverse settings. These include troubled youth and their families, schools, community mental health clinics, addiction treatment centers, and sports organizations.

I also had the opportunity to mentor under Stanley Keleman at the Center for Energetic Studies, Berkeley, CA, in Somatic Emotional Therapy. I even became a licensed Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist at one point.

This wide-ranging experience has enabled me to develop a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to helping individuals achieve their true potential.

My style is a combination of tools from family systems: Gestalt Therapy, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Natural Processing, CBT/DBT, John Gottman, Poly Vagal Theory, and Attachment Theory. As a coach or therapist, I utilize research-backed methods when appropriate and collaborate with my clients for the best results.

In 2011, I created True Form Coaching and Counseling to help others learn to build resilience so they can reduce suffering and lead satisfying lives. I have helped many people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences create the lives they most deeply desire through quality relationships. It is a client-centered approach that's experiential. Our sessions or workshops enable our clients to create new experiences of themselves. It's this experiential approach during sessions that lets clients embody themselves differently between sessions. It is designed to be collaborative and aligned with the client's goals.

I currently reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I see clients virtually. I am also licensed in Colorado, California, and Arizona and counsel clients virtually in those states. As a life coach, I provide life coaching to people anywhere in the country or world. I facilitate trainings for therapists with Craig Penner in Natural Processing, an Advanced Somatic-EMDR. I offer professional consultation services to other licensed clinicians and coaches.

In my spare time, I enjoy making ceramics, running with my dogs, cooking, gardening, yoga, biking, paddle boarding, skiing, traveling, and hanging out with my family. As a practitioner, I am particularly passionate about health and wellness and integrating the body, mind, and soul for healing the whole person. Learning to help others has been a profound source of meaning and purpose in my life.

In a world full of degrees, titles, letters, and certifications -- I choose to define myself as a healer.
